SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, affects the immune system, and in extreme conditions, it can even lead to death. But it has been found that people with good, strong innate immunity could fight this pandemic with relatable ease.

 

The increasing auto immune diseases like diabetes, PCOS, PCOD, obesity, heart ailments, and various kinds of cancer have made people all the more health conscious worldwide. They have started looking up healthy recipes that can make them immune to various diseases. A study published in the Biomed Central Journal states that some of the top Instagram searches during the pandemic revolved around immunity, immunity booster, etc.

 

The fact is that a healthy mix of a well-balanced diet, exercise, rest, and meditation directly helps in boosting our immune system. But in the current hectic lifestyle, people find it extremely difficult to give time to these practices. And hence to maintain the good health of their families, they are more and more inclined toward nutritional recipes that increase their humoral immune system.

Grandma’s herbal drinking water:

This simple drink is very common in many homes in rural India. It Boosts the immune system, helps digestion, reduces inflammation, improves skin health, and helps in reducing the toxin level in the body.

 

Ingredients:

  • 5 litres of water
  • One pc of ginger 1 inch (crushed)
  • One mango leaf
  • 3 small pcs of turmeric root (2 to 3 mm)
  • ¼ teaspoon of jeera

     

    Preparation:

    • Take 5 litres of water in a container
    • Add crushed ginger, turmeric root, and mango leaf
    • Boil water for 3 to 5 minutes
    • Add jeera, put off the stove, and keep it aside
    • Pour it into a vacuum bottle for storage to consume it while it is hot

       

      Consumption:

      Drink a glass of this first thing every morning and half an hour before going to bed at night. You can use this in place of plain drinking water as it kills disease-causing waterborne bacteria and viruses.

       

      Immune booster drink: 

      It has the goodness of fresh fruits and vegetables. It is the main source for boosting your immunity by generating energy in the immune system. It is richly loaded with Vitamin A, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin C, Potassium, and folic acid. These nutrients support biochemical reactions in the immune system.

       

      Ingredients:

      • One large apple
      • One orange
      • One medium size beetroot
      • 2 medium size carrots
      • Ginger one medium size
      • Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon
      • Black salt or rock salt ¼ teaspoon

         

        Preparation:

        • Put all the fruits, carrots, and ginger into the blender jar or cold press juicer
        • Blend well
        • Pour into a container, and add turmeric and salt
        • Mix well and drink

           

          Palak (spinach) curry:

          Palak contains a good amount of Vitamin K, which is required for good bone health. It is rich in Vitamins and antioxidants and high in Iron content. Healthy bones help in developing good immune cells from the bone marrow. A very rich source of Vitamin A supports the immune system and cell growth.

           

          Ingredients:

          • Palak (spinach) 500 grams
          • One medium size onion
          • 10 garlic cloves
          • 4 green chillies
          • 3 to 4 cloves
          • 1-star anise
          • 2 bay leaf
          • Small pc of cardamom
          • ½ teaspoon turmeric
          • 1 teaspoon of mustard
          • 1 teaspoon of jeera seeds
          • 3 tablespoon cooking oil

             

            Preparation:

            • Clean and wash palak neatly
            • Blanch the palak in hot water for 1 minute
            • Dip the palak in ice water to retain the greenness for 10 minutes
            • Put the palak in a blender jar and blend it into a fine paste
            • Cut onions and garlic into small pieces
            • Take oil in a pan and heat on medium flame
            • Once the oil is heated, add clove, cardamom, and bay leaves. Fry for 5 minutes
            • It helps the oil to imbibe all the flavours
            • Add jeera and mustard, and wait to crackle
            • Add onions, garlic, and green chillies. Fry until the onion turns light brown
            • Add turmeric and pour the palak paste. Add 3-4 glasses of water and let it boil for 2-3 minutes
            • Add salt to taste
            • Your palak curry is ready. Cherish with roti and rice

               

              Egg, mushroom, and tomato curry:

              A combination of egg, mushroom, and tomato is a source of multivitamins and proteins. It helps in boosting immunity and improving bone health.

               

              Ingredients:

              • 2 eggs 
              • 100 g mushroom
              • 2 tomatoes
              • One medium size onion cut into small pieces
              • 2 chillies 
              • Cooking oil one tablespoon 
              • Black pepper powder ¼ teaspoon
              • Coriander leaves one tablespoon
              • Mustard ¼ teaspoon
              • Turmeric ¼ teaspoon

                 

                Preparation:

                • Blend tomatoes into a fine paste
                • Heat oil in a deep pan. Add mustard and let it crackle
                • Add onions and chillies, and fry till the onion turns translucent
                • Add mushrooms and fry for 5 minutes till mushrooms are half cooked
                • Add tomato paste, turmeric, and 2 to 3 glasses of water. Add salt to taste and boil for 3 to 4 minutes
                • Break eggs into the curry and stir till eggs are cooked
                • Sprinkle pepper powder and garnish with coriander to serve

                   

                  Spinach and egg fry: 

                  An egg has vitamin A, Vitamin B-12, and selenium which are vital in strengthening your adaptive immunity. The goodness of spinach makes it a healthy food.

                   

                  Ingredients:

                  • 2 eggs 
                  • 3 to 4 stalks of spinach cut into pieces
                  • One medium size onion cut into small pieces
                  • 2 chillies 
                  • Cooking oil one tablespoon 
                  • Black pepper powder ¼ teaspoon
                  • Coriander leaves one tablespoon
                  • Mustard ¼ teaspoon
                  • Turmeric ¼ teaspoon

                     

                    Preparation:

                    • Boil eggs in an egg boiler to retain the nutrition value
                    • Peel the shells and keep them aside
                    • Heat oil in a Tawa and add mustard seeds to crackle
                    • Add onion and chillies, and fry until the onion turns translucent
                    • Add cut spinach and fry
                    • Add turmeric and salt and fry for 2 minutes
                    • Mash the boiled eggs and fry for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame
                    • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve
